Welcome to Plano Hogwarts!
Plano Hogwarts is a wonderful online community for all fans of Harry Potter, JK Rowling, and the magic world she has created for us. Unlike most Hogwarts communities, this one does not require you to role-play. So, you can enjoy everything Plano Hogwarts has to offer by just being yourself!
PH has everything from JK Rowling's Hogwarts. From classes to Quidditch, sorting to even a DA, we've got it all! Among the usual, there are many other activities here for fans. There are games, an RP Club, contests, and discussions about anything you can imagine! You might even find yourself hunting for a certain Sorcerer's Stone, or participating in Triwizard Tournaments, or...who knows? =)
The staff and students here are some of the most wonderful people you could meet. Once you join, you'll make some great friends here, guaranteed.

The dates for the Fall 2008 Term are now finalized!
August 31, 2008: Fall Term Begins
November 30, 2008: Fall Term Ends
Enrollment
lists for most classes have already been posted. Sign up now! Keep in
mind that you must pass at least two classes to advance in year.
Please do NOT sign up for a class unless you know will participate!
Keep
your fall schedule in mind when signing up. Otherwise...the HMs will not be
held responsible for any stray hexes that come your way. ;)
Coming Up: New Passwords!
On August 31st, all common room, locker room, and Knockturn Alley passwords will be changed for the Fall Term and winter break.
Staff and student leaders will be owled the new passwords at that time only. If you do not have the new password to your common room on August 31st, send a PM to a Prefect or staffer from your house.
Club
and Room of Requirement (RoR) owners, send me a PM with a new password
for your club or RoR. If you haven't changed passwords within the last
year, I highly recommend this! |

The Summer 2008 term ends today, August 16th!
All classes should be over.
Please contact your professor if you need any extensions.
The Graduation List will be posted during the upcoming week. It will include the spring 2008 and summer 2008 classes. So, you may see that you've passed 2 'years', since the list covers two terms.
The House Cup Championship for the spring term has ended. As usual, this means that no more House Points can be earned. The only exceptions are:
- Quidditch (one match remaining)
- classwork (for those who have extensions)
The Honor Points and the downloads are being recorded at the moment, but these points will not be added until just before the House Cup is awarded.

| Lions and Serpents Lead On |

This weekend saw three curiously exciting Quidditch games, including everything from seeker scrambles to reserve players to neutral keepers.
After a morning rematch, Gryffindor scraped a win against Hufflepuff, 80-20! Several hours later, Slytherin narrowly defeated Ravenclaw, 60-10, in a match that would not even have taken place without the aid of a few reserve players.
Here are the current standings:
1. Gryffindor - 2 wins, 270 points
1. Slytherin - 2 wins, 270 points
3. Hufflepuff - 0 wins, 220 points
4. Ravenclaw - 0 wins, 10 points
The tournament will conclude in two weeks, when Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff play for third place, and Slytherin and Gryffindor compete in the final showdown for the Quidditch Cup! Specific dates and times will be announced over the week.
Congratulations to all Quidditch players!

JOIN US IN CELEBRATING HARRY'S BIRTHDAY!!!
All this week, Sunday, July 27th through Sunday, August 3rd, 2008, we will be having a week of contests, games, and other exciting events to celebrate Harry's birthday, JK Rowling's birthday, and the one-year anniversary of the release of Deathly Hallows, the seventh and final book in the Harry Potter series.
Head over to the Great Hall to check out the different contests, play some games, and earn house points!

Please notice that both these games take place in the afternoon, not at night as usual. These times were chosen from the 'Game Times' topic in the Quidditch forum. If, however, most of your team is unable to make a match, please post the time conflicts in the Game Times topic, and if you have a new time in mind, send an owl to HMShivz as soon as possible!

Portus 2008, the first post-DH Harry Potter conference, is just around the corner!
Meet hundreds of your Potter friends in Dallas, TX, at the beautiful Hilton Anatole, where all the magic is happening this month! See your favorite podcasts, from AlleyCast to MuggleCast, during the Podcast Palooza on Friday. Discuss everything that boggles and interests you about the series, and hear experts on those very topics! Play or watch Quidditch on land and in water! Rock out with your favorite wizard rock bands during the concert or the Unplugged sessions in the common room!
And, of course, meet the one and only Jim Dale, narrator of the US audiobooks!
